“Spotify” Wrapped
Project Brief: Inspired by the popular Spotify Wrapped concept, this project aims to create a dynamic motion graphics video, Blackhawks Wrapped, that celebrates the Chicago Blackhawks' 2023-2024 season. The video highlights key stats, memorable moments, and player achievements from last season, all while showcasing the team's new branding for 2024. This engaging and visually striking video will capture the energy of the season, appealing to both die-hard fans and newcomers.

Inspired by Spotify Wrapped, I’ve put together something special for Blackhawks fans—introducing Blackhawks Wrapped!
This project combined three of my passions—graphic design, video editing, and the Blackhawks. Inspired by last year’s Spotify Wrapped, I created a recap of the 2023-2024 season by gathering key stats and memorable moments. I included stats like total minutes played, goals scored, and my top three favorite goals from the season. The video also highlights the team’s leaders in goals, assists, and points, along with players who were acquired during the offseason and those who had their contracts extended.
Once I gathered all the information, I created each slide in Illustrator, making sure to follow this year’s brand standards. I reviewed the Blackhawks’ social media to get a feel for their colors, fonts, and design elements, aiming to match their style as closely as possible. Key elements I incorporated were the Chicago star, the Blackhawks logo in both full color and black-and-white, the four feathers logo, and the black-and-white stripe pattern from the bottom of the jersey. I also designed a template slide to feature the video footage of the top three goals of the season.
I also used Photoshop to edit the various images I incorporated throughout the video. My goal was to make the iconic red jerseys pop in the photos while giving them a comic/sketched style.
Once all twelve slides were complete, I imported them into After Effects. There, I animated each element individually and added the goal videos into the template slide I created earlier. To wrap it all up, I included the instrumental version of Chelsea Dagger, the iconic Blackhawks goal song, to give the video that extra burst of energy. In the end, this project was a great opportunity to bring together my skills in graphic design, video editing, and my passion for the Blackhawks, resulting in a unique and engaging recap of the season that reflects both the team's brand and my creative vision.
